The vines function as a spring for the plant head to catch prey.
The plant head is usually very easy to train, but some ponies have trouble.
Any vines that aren't a shade of green are rare.
They live in a borderline classless matriarchal society that has a deep prejudice against males, so keep that in mind. 

Anyway, these are definitely not breeding outside of their race due to their prejudices.
Male adopts will also be very rare (hella rare you could say), so don't expect any.
I also won't be opening customs of these anytime soon.
